  • Asians prefer 24 karat gold. 100% pure gold.
  • 18-karat gold is 18/24ths, or three-quarters pure gold.
  • Jewellery of this fineness is marked “18k” means 75%gold.
  • In the United States, 14-karat gold is used most commonly for jewelry.
  • Fourteen-karat gold is 14/24ths.
  • Jewelry of this fineness is marked “14k” means 58.5 percent gold.
